About the Mizuno 2026 Pro Fli Hi Utility Iron
The Mizuno 2026 Pro Fli-Hi is a hollow-body utility iron designed to replace traditional long irons with something easier to launch and more consistent across the face. The head is made from heat-treated 4335+ Nickel Chromoly steel, a high-strength alloy that allows for thinner walls and faster ball speeds while keeping the hosel soft enough for loft and lie bending during fitting. Twenty-six grams of tungsten sit low in the head, pushing the center of gravity down to help get the ball airborne more easily than a standard 2, 3, or 4-iron.
The face uses Mizuno's Contoured Ellipse CORTECH design, which the company says expands the effective sweet spot by 37 percent compared to the previous generation. An offset face weld moves the seam away from the topline, allowing for a thinner top edge and more face flex — particularly helpful on low-face strikes where utility irons typically lose speed. Harmonic Impact Technology tunes the vibration pattern at impact to replicate the feel of a Mizuno muscle-back, which is a meaningful distinction in a category where hollow heads often feel dead or tinny.
The Fli-Hi comes in 2-iron (16.5 degrees), 3-iron (19 degrees), and 4-iron (21.5 degrees) options. It pairs naturally with Mizuno Pro iron sets but works as a standalone long-iron replacement in any bag. The increased bounce angle compared to the previous model improves turf interaction, and the compact head with a Gunmetal Black Ion Satin finish looks clean at address without any hybrid-like bulk.
