About the Miura Miura KM-700 QPQ Iron Set Iron Set
The Miura KM-700 QPQ is a players' blade iron forged from S20C soft carbon steel, finished with Miura's QPQ (Quench-Polish-Quench) black treatment. The QPQ process embeds pigment into the top layer of the steel rather than applying a surface coating, producing a dark finish with genuine depth that holds up over time without affecting the iron's feel at impact.
Designed over five years by master craftsman Katsuhiro Miura, the KM-700 features a distinctive toe grind and a redesigned hosel-heel section that shifts the center of gravity roughly 3mm toward the toe, about 35mm from the heel. This adjustment helps the club return to square at impact more naturally. Weight tolerances are held to plus or minus half a gram, which is tighter than most production irons.
Despite its blade appearance, the KM-700 is more playable than you might expect. The weight distribution provides noticeable mis-hit protection for a muscleback, and the feel on center strikes is exceptionally soft. Ball speed and distance track closely with strike quality, rewarding consistent ball-strikers with precise distance control. Lofts are traditional, with a 33-degree 7-iron that launches slightly higher than many modern players' irons at the same loft.
